When people start a diet, they usually turn the switch on, do it 100% for a period of time, lose some weight, say they are finished, then go on to gain ALL of the weight back. At Coach Shari our nutritional goal is for you to create new habits that will serve you for the long term, the end game. The fundamentals to success are healthy habits.
What is Nutrition Coaching?
Nutrition Coaching is an evidence-based, empowering method, to help you reach long term changes in your time-frame and your own pace. Our philosophy is, rather than prescribing and telling you what to and not to do, we create a program to empower and guide you. You will decide the food changes you are ready to make and build upon your small step successes to achieve your goal.
1. First Coaching Session
Just as our Health and Wellness program begins with a 1 hour and 50 minute consultation, our nutrition program begins with a session to discuss what you wish to achieve with the nutrition consultant. Do you want to lose, or gain weight? Do you have an illness that requires a specific diet? All these issues will be addressed and carefully reviewed with Shari. All coaching sessions are face-to-face whether at our Springfield Office, or via Skype / Zoom.
2. Creating a Vision
After we’ve discussed your current status, along with the overlying nutritional suggestions, we will work on your vision. How do you see yourself a year from now? Where do you want to be? What weight? This sets the stage for what you want to accomplish and why, what is your motivator?
3. Second Consultation
This session lasts 50 minutes and will begin with a review of your vision. We want to ensure that it represents how you see yourself, and what you want to achieve. This is where we begin weekly goals and lay the work for small but powerful habits.
4. Follow-up Sessions
These sessions last up to 50 minutes. The frequency will be determined by your goals and needs, as well as your schedule. We will review the goals, successes, and what was learned to help you move forward. Coaching is a positive experience, you are always in control.
Perimenopause and Menopause Nutrition
The symptoms of perimenopause / menopause vary from person to person and can be difficult to deal with. The weight gain is often the worst aspect, and, not surprisingly, may bring about feelings of depression and frustration. Add to that hot flashes that disturb sleep and it’s a recipe for misery! Coach Shari SM takes a holistic approach to understanding how you are personally affected. She will work with you to determine the right nutrition and diet plan to support your changing body and allow you drop the weight. In addition, she can support you with education on natural herbal options to support you feeling like yourself.
